When drilling on the lathe, sometimes it is hard to turn the tailstock wheel. This will make it a lot easier by moving the handle out to the maximum width for your lathe. This can decrease the force needed to drill with large Forstner bits.

To use, insert the 3/8″ bolt into your knockout tube on the tailstock and place the existing handle through the hole in the flat piece of wood. This will move the handle further from the center and decrease the force need to drill.
notes:
– Keep the 4-3/4″ wood piece thin and chamfer the hole for the handle to keep the pressure close to the base of the existing handle.
Turn a small handle to fit the 1/4″ bolt. By using two nuts you can lock the bolt in place and allow the handle to turn.

You might need to adjust the dimensions to fit your lathe.
As shown, it will fit most mini and midi lathes.
